Why we're making this change

For almost seven years, Lightwire has largely kept pricing stable while continuing to invest in our network, support teams, systems, and security services.

Over that same period, wholesale network costs have increased, inflation has risen, operating costs have climbed, and supplier pricing has changed multiple times.

Most providers have passed those increases through regularly.  

We've largely absorbed them.

While that's helped keep prices stable, it isn't the most sustainable or transparent way to manage pricing over the long term.

We're now moving to a model built around predictability and certainty.

What's changing?

From 1 July 2026, we're changing the way term pricing works. Historically, longer terms received a larger discount.

Going forward, the primary benefit of a term agreement will be price certainty.

When you commit to a term, your monthly rate is locked in for the duration of that agreement.

That means if annual pricing reviews occur during your term, your service price remains unchanged.

Customers who choose open-term services may be subject to annual pricing reviews, helping ensure any future changes are smaller and more predictable rather than larger catch-up increases.

Why this matters

In today's market, almost everything is becoming more expensive. Insurance goes up. Software subscriptions go up. Power prices go up. Supplier costs go up.  

For many businesses, the challenge isn't necessarily a small annual increase. It's not knowing what costs will look like next year. We have heard this from a large proportion of our customers, so it’s time to deliver on a model that works for this environment.

What price certainty looks like

Price increases impact us at an average of 4% per year. Over time, the difference can add up.

For example:

  • 12-month term
    • A $149/month service could be around $155/month in a year's time.
    • Locking in today gives you certainty and could save approximately $72 over the term compared to future pricing.
  • 24-month term
    • That same service could be around $161/month after two years.
    • Locking in today's rate could save approximately $288 over the term.
  • 36-month term
    • After three years, the same service could be around $168/month.
    • Locking in today could save approximately $684 over the term.

These examples are illustrative only and assume average annual reviews of 4%.

The bigger benefit is knowing exactly what your bill will be throughout your agreement.

How we'll help you stay on top of pricing

Today, when your contract term ends, your service becomes open term but retains the pricing of your previous term. Under our new pricing model, when your contract term ends, your service will become open term and new pricing may apply, depending on the length of the previous contact term.

We'll proactively contact you before your term ends to discuss your options and help you decide what works best for your business.

If you'd like to lock in your pricing again, you can choose a new term and continue enjoying price certainty. If you don't re-term, your service will simply move onto an open-term arrangement and continue without interruption.

Customers who have committed to longer terms receive a softer transition onto open-term pricing.

What happens once I reach out of term under this new model?


Open term

Your service is subject to future annual pricing reviews.

12-month term

Your service moves to our current open-term pricing. Future annual pricing reviews may apply.

24-month term

Your service moves to open term, but keeps the equivalent of today's 24-month pricing as its starting point. Future annual pricing reviews may apply.

36-month term

Your service moves to open term, but keeps the equivalent of today's 36-month pricing as its starting point. Future annual pricing reviews may apply.

  • Enterprise-grade network infrastructure  
  • Local, real support, 24/7
  • Lightwire Threat Feed Service (LTFS)
