From 23 March 2026, our 2G and 3G networks have been switched off.

If your phone or device still relies on 2G or 3G, it will need to be replaced. You may already be using 4G or 5G for calls and data. To make sure everything works as it should, follow the steps below.

We’ve contacted customers we believe are affected. Our records aren’t always perfect, so it’s worth double-checking.

The easiest way to do that is to TXT 3G to 550 from your phone.

What to expect

If your phone still connects using 2G or 3G for voice calls, you may hear a short message before your call connects. This can happen even if your phone usually works on 4G or 5G.

For more detail, check the 3G FAQs below.

What you can do now

There are a few simple ways to check your phone and make sure you’re set up properly.

1. Check your phone status

TXT 3G to 550.

You’ll get a reply explaining how your phone is affected and what to do next, if anything.

  • This TXT service is optional
  • If your phone isn’t compatible or can’t send TXT messages, you’ll need a supported device
  • If you’re unsure what your result means, check the FAQs below

2. Update your phone settings

Make sure your phone is ready for 4G or 5G calling.

  • Install the latest software updates
  • Turn on 4G or 5G in your mobile settings
  • Enable VoLTE (4G calling), if your phone supports it
  • Restart your phone once you’re done

You can also check if your phone supports VoLTE using the supported device list.

If you’re unsure, we can help. Visit a store, call us, or follow the online guide.

Tip: Turning on WiFi Calling can help. This lets you make calls over WiFi when mobile coverage is limited.

3. Upgrade your phone if needed

If your phone doesn’t support VoLTE or 4G calling, you won’t be able to make calls or use data in some situations, especially overseas.

There are plenty of compatible phones available if you need to upgrade.

Having issues after the shutdown?
